The PV O&M Analytics Collaborative (PVMAC) is a PVPMC initiative started in October 2024 aimed at improving transparency, interoperability, and standardization in PV operations. Our mission is to bring together developers, EPCs, asset owners/managers, O&M providers, insurers, banks, and analytics companies to address critical challenges and drive meaningful improvements in PV plant performance and availability.
How to Participate
- Share insights through surveys, 1:1 interviews, and group discussions.
- Collaborate in blind comparisons and sessions during PVPMC workshops (pvpmc.sandia.gov).
- Provide non-sensitive data to inform realistic analyses.
- Highlight what you feel is most impactful or missing in this space.
Objectives
- Are data quality, O&M, and analytic capabilities worth the investment? Through large-scale parametric analyses, we’ll address questions like: “Recoverable energy will be clipped or curtailed anyway—truth or myth?”
- Align Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as capacity and performance metrics, that are critical in contractual agreements during operations and asset transitions. Provide best practices that minimize KPI calculation uncertainty.
- Harmonize definitions of failures and symptoms.
- Define “buzzwords” like “AI,” “digital twin,” and “predictive analytics”.
- Conduct blind analytic comparisons (e.g., KPI calculations).
- Promote better documentation and independent validation of analytics solutions.
- Identify barriers to interoperability and encourage open solutions to reduce dependencies and risks.
- Bridge gaps between developers, EPCs, asset owners, O&M providers, insurers, and banks to better assess and mitigate operational risks.
Why these objectives matter:
Transparent and standardized analytics and KPIs not only improve PV plant performance but also reduce operational uncertainties. This effort supports better risk assessment, making it easier to insure projects and secure financing with confidence.
