The 2nd PV Performance Modeling Workshop is going to be held May 1-2 in Santa Clara, CA as part of the 2013 PV Systems Symposium being sponsored by Sandia National Laboratories and Electrical Power Research Institute. Registration is available here. Draft agenda is also available for download.
The wide variety of PV system technologies and designs, site conditions, and operations strategies means that complex PV system performance models are needed to represent PV plant performance. While PV component and system costs are rapidly falling, the upfront costs of PV (before any energy is generated) remain high. Sandia National Laboratories’ scientists, Joshua Stein…Details

The 39th IEEE PV Specialists Conference (PVSC) will be in Tampa, Florida from June 16-21, 2013. This is a great opportunity to for learning about and reporting on the latest developments from the PV performance modeling community. I am the Area 9 chair for this year and am looking forward to organizing some special PV performance…Details
I have been trying to publish new pages in the modeling steps nearly every day. Some of the new pages include: reflective loss models, the Sandia Module IV model, diffuse radiation models, and some pages on irradiance components, AOI, etc. Check back frequently for updates. Please feel free to send me any content you want…Details
Sandia modeling team was featured in a Photon article entitled: Designing a Better Crystal Ball in the April 2012 issue. It described research at Sandia that is developing methods to estimate high frequency (e.g., 1-min) power output from utility-scale plants using a single irradiance sensor.
There will be a special oral session (details below) at this years IEEE PVSC in Austin devoted to the PV Performance Modeling Collaborative. I hope to see many of you at the meeting. I plan to give a preview of our new website during the first presentation of the session! Area 9 Area 9: Modules…Details
